In 1998 Jackie Randel left home, friends and family in Lebanon, Indiana to
pursue her lifelong dream of living close to the beach in a warm climate.
After
some searching she landed in North Naples where she found a full
time sales position. Her next endeavor was to enter the thriving art
community and attend classes at the Bonita Springs Art League.
Jackie was always into bright colors, and her
instructor, Margo Vigorito, was impressed with her early efforts. Together
teacher and student decided painting with pastels was the best match for
her interest and style. Jackie completed her first painting, "Wild Thing"
in pastel under Ms. Vigorito's tutelage. The painting is a beautifully
constructed design of bright colors.
After graduation Jackie went back to the drawing
board. She had always loved giraffes with their long necks and awkward
movements, but in her fertile imagination they are colorful and graceful
creatures. Her whimsical depiction of the family of "Long Necks" is a
sight to behold. Gigi, the mother is in purple with turquoise flowers
while father George is drawn in turquoise with orange polka dots. Of
course, Graci the baby giraffe emerges quite naturally in orange with purple
hearts.
Reproductions of Ms. Randel's whimsical and witty work, including the
"Long-Neck" family, are available on
greeting cards, note cards and
giclée and in her latest project, "Calendar Friends" a
colorful and creative learning tool to teach children the calendar
months of the year and days of the week.
Giclée
reproductions of original art shown on this web
site are available by contacting Jackie via email for size, price and
